A person who doesn't become overly joyful in moments of happiness,
and doesn't drown in sorrow during times of sadness—
is someone who has begun to master inner balance.
When one gains control over the Arishadvargas—
Kama (desire), Krodha (anger), Lobha (greed), Moha (attachment), Mada (pride), and Matsarya (jealousy), such mastery leads to true self-control...
And when a person controls these inner enemies, they begin to gain control over life itself.
That is the path toward becoming a complete and awakened being—
one who moves closer to moksha, or ultimate liberation.
